Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 8 tablespoons butter, softened

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Add the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar to a large bowl. Beat together until light, smooth, and creamy, about 2 minutes.

  3. Add the vanilla and egg. Mix until fully combined.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing just until a dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.

  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.

  7. Scoop the dough into 2-tablespoon portions and place them about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet. Gently press down the tops of the dough balls.

  8. Bake for 9–11 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden and the centers still look slightly soft.

  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack. They will continue to set as they cool.
